Alec Doherty - A History of Bermondsey

Massive 40-meter-long hand-painted mural showcasing a pictorial history of the London borough of Bermondsey.

The artwork, designed by Artist and Jewellery maker Alec Doherty, was commissioned by NB Studios to tell the story of Bermondsey. Images of the Thames, the suffrage movement, Millwall FC, Bourbon biscuits, Oliver Twist, Charles Dickens and more are displayed throughout the artwork.

The mural proudly declares itself as the UK’s first public artwork using Airlite, a specialist air-purifying paint. Airlite reduces pollutants like nitrogen oxide and nitrogen dioxide filtering the air and making it purer. Pretty bloody impressive!
